You tell DriftShark what you're working on. It checks your active window against that goal and gives you a gentle nudge when you wander off — no lectures, no leaderboards.
Three steps, once per work block
No configuration marathon. You describe the work, then get on with it.
Describe the block
Type what you're trying to do in plain language, and optionally list the sites you expect to be on.
Work as normal
Roughly once a minute, DriftShark compares your foreground window title against your stated goal.
Get nudged, not judged
Drifted? A small reminder appears in the corner. Snooze it or get back on track. Then a summary at the end.
There is no DriftShark cloud
Window titles live in a SQLite file on your own machine. Scoring runs through the Anthropic API using your key, so you can see exactly what it costs and cancel it yourself.
What it captures
- The title of your foreground window
- The URL and title of your active browser tab — only if you install the optional extension
- The goal you typed for the current block
What it never captures
- Screen recordings or screenshots
- Page content, keystrokes, or documents
- Telemetry or third-party analytics
You bring your own Anthropic API key, stored in the Windows credential manager. Scoring costs roughly $0.05–0.08 per focused hour on Claude Haiku, billed by Anthropic directly to you — not to us.
Installing the beta
One thing will look alarming. It's expected, and here's exactly why.
⚠ Windows will say “unknown publisher”
When you run the installer, Windows SmartScreen shows a blue dialog reading “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway.
This appears because beta builds aren't signed with a code-signing certificate. It is not a virus warning — it means Windows hasn't seen enough downloads of this exact file to vouch for it. Signed builds are on the list for public launch.
